# Geotag Alpha

> Geotag Alpha is an iPhone app that reliably geotags photos and videos on Sony α (Alpha) cameras over Bluetooth Low Energy, in the background. Coordinates are written into EXIF (and video container metadata) at capture time — no GPX import, no after-the-fact tagging.

The app pairs once with a Sony camera, then runs in the background to push GPS coordinates from the iPhone to the camera over BLE. It works without internet, without keeping the app open, and without unlocking the phone. The free tier supports one camera with coarse GPS precision; paid tiers (Standard, Pro) add full precision and (on Pro) multiple simultaneous cameras. A two-week free trial of Pro is available.

Geotag Alpha uses only public Bluetooth GATT services on the camera — no private Sony APIs, no reverse-engineering of cloud services. Location data never leaves the phone over the internet.
