Privacy

Summary

The whole policy in three lines
Location data is sent only to your connected cameras — never to a server. Geotag Alpha does send anonymous crash, error, and basic telemetry to Apple and Sentry (EU) so we can fix bugs. We have no accounts, no sign-up, and we will never sell your data.

What stays on your device

The following data is stored locally on your iPhone, and only on your iPhone:

  • The list of cameras you've paired (model name, model ID, pairing key).
  • Per-camera settings (Time Correction on/off, Time Area Correction on/off, Enable Fast Connect on/off, etc).
  • App-wide settings (push interval and distance, location accuracy, notification preference).
  • The most recent GPS coordinates the phone obtained — used to populate the next push to the camera.

None of this is backed up to iCloud unless you've enabled the system-wide “Back up app data” iCloud setting yourself.

Telemetry and crash data

Geotag Alpha sends crash reports, error reports, and basic anonymous telemetry to two processors so we can find and fix bugs:

  • Apple — via the standard App Store / TestFlight crash reporting that ships with iOS.
  • Sentry (EU region) — for crash and non-fatal error reports. Hosted in the European Union.

These reports do not contain personally identifiable information unless you choose to include it (for example, by typing your email into a free-text bug report). They do not contain photos or GPS coordinates.

No location telemetry, ever
GPS coordinates the app reads are sent to your connected camera only. They are not sent to Apple, Sentry, or any other party.

What we do not do

  • We do not collect or transmit your location.
  • We do not have an account system, sign-up, or login.
  • We do not have an advertising ID or share data with advertising networks.
  • We do not sell, rent, or otherwise transfer your data to anyone.

Third parties

Two parties touch your data in the course of using the app:

  • Apple — operates the App Store, handles in-app purchases and any TestFlight / crash reporting you opt into at the OS level. Apple's own privacy policy applies.
  • Sentry GmbH (Germany, EU region) — receives crash and error reports. See sentry.io/privacy.
